Return To Normal?

Updated: Jul 19, 2021

When we look at the world a year ago and reflect, many ask - are we finally back to normal? From a wedding perspective, we are finding things are moving forward, but we've noticed some changes compared to past years.

For many guests, they have not seen each other for a long time. One of our brides shared that she had not seen many of her guests since before the pandemic started. While guest counts are still less than previous years, the majority of those who are invited will come to the wedding. We are noticing that guests find themselves lost in conversations throughout the evening. Because of this, we are advising the bridal parties to go with the flow and sometimes offer more time between dinner and dancing. Often after dinner, most guests will go outside and visit on our skywalk/deck area. They may even take a stroll on our walking path through our farmland to the arched bridge over the water. When it is time for the first dances, John and I will encourage guests to return to the barn so they don't' miss this special moment.

Our deck and skywalk connects to the upper level of the barn. A car can drive up the ramp to drop someone off who is elderly or handicap. This makes the barn handicap accessible.

Like we have talked about in the past, guest comfort is very important to our couples. We want your family and friends to enjoy their time here and not leave early because of unfavorable conditions. High humidity can cause expensive wedding updos to go flat (yes, this was Johns idea to include this!) Yet another reason why we are heating or air conditioning the barn nearly every wedding.

Many couples are choosing to offer something unique for their wedding. This year especially, we have the most themed weddings compared to the previous five years. In addition to the popular rustic, elegant and boho styles, we have unique themes of Star Wars, Luau and even the high class Black Tie (sounds like a topic for my next blog). While it may not be a theme, some couples offer a late night taco bar instead of the popular pizza. For dessert we've seen fresh gelato or ice cream instead of cupcakes.

Bride and groom had gelato at their wedding. They got it from the Fun Factory Sweet Shoppe that is a small business located in Rhinelander, Wisconsin

When the weather is too hot/cold/rainy - we are in Wisconsin so often times finding the "perfect weather day" is nearly impossible - we have our rustic/industrial downstairs with extra space and an additional bar.

While we might not be fully back to normal, we are excited to see our guests comfortable at our venue and look forward to hosting many more weddings in the years to come.

Ashley and Zack's wedding had rain most of the day. They were still able to get some outside bridal party photos. One of the groomseman is in a wheelchair but was still able to get around the barn easily.

"We had our wedding at Eron’s Event Barn, and there is no way I could ever put into words how impressed we were with them. From our first tour, we knew this was where we wanted to have our wedding. The venue is simply gorgeous, and John and Melissa put so much work into all of the details, it’s amazing. I was welcomed in to tour/visit as many times as I needed to while planning and preparing. Every question I had along the way was answered quickly. John and Melissa, and their staff, helped with flipping the venue from our ceremony space to our dinner space, to our reception space. I didn’t need to put any stress or worry on family members to take care of this which was SO nice. Each time I visited, John also had built something new that we could use to make our space special from an archway, to cupcake stands, to the final surprise of huge light up “LOVE” letters on the set up day. You can tell John and Melissa truly love what they do and take so much pride in their space. Our guests raved about how beautiful the venue was. We would recommend Eron’s over and over and over again."
